Thelma Huntington was born on August 2, 1902 in Stateline, Douglas County, Nevada to
John Huntington and Alice Melissa Allen. She was there only child. Thelma married Kenneth Asa
Barton on November 20, 1921 in Richfield, Sevier County, Utah.
Thelma and Ken had seven children: John Kenneth Barton born on September 21, 1922;
Alice Jane Barton; Thelma Faye Barton; Allen Brent Barton; Byron Barton born on October 24, 1931;
Kaye Baily Barton and Clayton Barton. All of the children were born in Beaver City, Beaver County,
Utah
Kenneth Asa Barton, 92, died August 17, 1992 in the Beaver Valley Hospital. He was born
September 19, 1889 in Beaver, Utah to John Hunter and Eliza Jane Morgan Barton. He married
his sweetheart, Thelma Huntington November 20, 1921 in Richfield, Utah; marriage later
solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She preceded him in death, Feb. 17, 1990. Kenneth
was a veteran of World War I and served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the LDS Church.
He helped establish and played in the Southern Utah Baseball League in the `20's. Kenneth
served in various leadership positions including American Legion and the Lions Club of Beaver.
Kenneth, with his brothers, were instrumental in organizing and creating the Beaver Horse Races.
He was a prominent civic leader, merchant, rancher and sportsman.Survivors: sons and daughters,
John K. and Jane Jensen, Salt Lake City; Faye B. Henrie, Carmel, California; Brent, Santa Ana,
California; Kaye Bailey, Clayton, California; 16 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren.
Thelma Huntington died on February 7, 1990 in Beaver City, Beaver County, Utah at the age of
87.
