Julia King Barton was born on March 2, 1875 in Greenville, Beaver County, Utah to William Barton and Mary Williamson. Mary Williamson was the second wife of William. William and Mary had seven children, Mary Ann born on January 3, 1862, Amanda born on July 9, 1865, Rebecca born on April 6, 1869, Sophronious born on January 29, 1871, Julia King born on March 2, 1875, Amy Elizabeth born on September 22, 1877 and Charles Hampton born on April 14, 1880.

Julia King Barton married David James Miller on February 1, 1907 in Greenville, Beaver County, Utah. They had two children, Mary Priscilla born on November 3, 1899 and Zola Barton born on February 21, 1902. Both girls were born in Greenville, Beaver County, Utah

Julia's father William Barton, his first wife Sarah Esther West and a son, Joseph Alma Barton, left Lebanon, Illinois, for Utah in the late summer of 1850. They were almost three months crossing the plains by ox team. They remained in Salt Lake until the early spring of 1851, arriving in Parowan on the seventh or eighth of April.

William was a carpenter, a mason, a miller, a violinist, a farmer, a brewer and a stockman. He also served as a dentist when needed. Because Polygamy was endorsed for church leaders, which William was, he married Mary L. Williamson, an English emigrant, on August 28, 1857. The two families never lived together; they resided in separate towns. Sarah Esher lived in Greenville while William spent the rest of his life living with Mary in Paragonah. This was because Sarah Esther seemed to be self-sufficient.

On October 11, 1902, William died very peacefully in Paragonah and was buried in Parowan, Utah, in the cemetery of the town, which he helped settle. On November 23, 1923, Mary died peacefully in her home at the age of eighty four. She was buried beside her husband William.

Julia King died on April 2, 1963 in Greenville, Beaver County, Utah at the age of 88. Her husband David James Miller had passed away on February 16, 1903 at the age of 31.
